Cyma Rubin discusses Stokowski's philosophy in forming the American Symphony Orchestra, the early concerts, commissioning works for the Orchestra from David Amram, Alan Hovhaness, and Gian Carlo Menotti; the Orchestra's performance of Charles Ives' Symphony [no. 4]; her work (with husband Samuel Rubin) fund raising for the American Symphony Orchestra, including arrangements for a benefit concert honoring Pablo Casals (in connection with this event she discusses Casals' political views and mentions Yehudi Menuhin and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis). She discusses her promotion of the children's concerts performed by the Orchestra and conducted by Stokowski including his reaction to the Beatles who had performed in Carnegie Hall the evening before his concert for teens (1964).
